Collage! with Jan Donovan | Aug. 5 & 6
Collage can be confusing - but you just have to get started and learn the basics. Jan Donovan has taught collage for Laura Heine-Fiberwork and Emily Taylor-Collage Quilter patterns – as well as her own designs – and loves to see students have success with whatever collage project they are working on. Jan says she has made all the mistakes and has ways to overcome them – so that is part of the fun of a class – as everyone learns from all the situations encountered. This 2 day class will allow you to fully complete a smaller (36x36) collage top (not the quilting) – or make really good progress on a larger top. So pull out those patterns you have been planning to make - and get started with collage! Any collage pattern that you have will work with this class, or select one of Jan’s designs and kit from her site https://www.threadzart.com/threadzpatternsandkits

Hand Quilting / Big Stitch - Rita Meyerhoff | Aug 12 & 26
Hand Quilting is an art and skill that goes back centuries and possibly 1000's of years. American quilters hand stitched everything until the mid 1800's, when sewing machines started to become available. This class will teach you about the history of Hand Quilting - the stitches that hold the 3 layers of fabrics together - AND you will learn the relaxing stitching techniques that create the beautiful textures and visual patterns that adorn the piecing and make a quilt usable, washable, and ready to last for many years. Big Stitch quilting is a variation that will be taught during this class as well. NO FRAME needed.
Cost: $ 75.00
