Special Events Team

Our Special Events Team makes events hum! They help set everything up, may serve as hosts / hostesses, help with lights and video and then break things back down and return our Galleries to wonderful exhibit spaces.

If you can help with all or any part of that for special events, we would love you to let us know. We are creating a list of those ready to volunteer - and then will contact you regarding specific events, so you can help when you are available.

Please let Megan know you want to be on the Special Events Team - 303-215-9001

RMQM Docent Team is growing and expanding to meet the needs of our Visitors

Docents are the special people who help our visitors learn and enjoy our exhibits to the max.
We are expanding our teams, to extend the times covered by docents, to include afternoons and Sundays.
We also are having more special events, tours, specialty tours and classes needing to have the expertise of docents as well.
We have a group of Docents in Training who are enjoying learning more about the exhibits and how to best serve our visitors.

Contact us if you've been considering this type of participation in RMQM life. Let's talk about getting you started.

Jr. Homestead Days  Thurs May 8 and Friday May 9th

Every spring, Golden History Museum and Park sponsors field trip days when schools can bring K-5th graders to learn about the history of Colorado and Golden, specifically in the 19th and 20th century - or contemporary Colorado issues.

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum participates to give kids a hands-on opportunity to understand basic quilt block building / design and we provide a handout teachers can use to add the historical information to their curriculum.

Kids move through our area in groups of 10-15 and we have about 5 minutes to help each group with an activity! Volunteer opportunities:
  • All supplies and 'kits' are prepared at the museum in advance - and we can use help in doing that.
  • Days of the field trips, we need 5 volunteers each day- to help keep the tables loaded with supplies, and give a start to kids in what they can do.
  • Field trip days start at 8:30 and are done with cleanup by 2:30 with a sack lunch break of 15 minutes mid-way.
This is a huge opportunity for RMQM to become a part of kid's lives.
