DESCRIPTION
Montana Wilderness Block 4 - The state’s name is derived from the Spanish word montaña (mountain). Montana entered the Union November 08, 1889. Montana has several nicknames, none official, “The Treasure State” and “Big Sky Country”, and slogans that include “Land of the Shining Mountains” and more recently, “The Last Best Place”. The western meadowlark is the official state bird of Montana, flower Bitterroot, the tree Ponderosa Pine and animal Grizzly Bear.
