TEAM Quilting - BIG OCEAN beginner level with Holly Bailey | Alternating Saturdays Sept 19 - Nov 14, 2026

Grandma's and Mom's-  this is a perfect way to learn how to work with your kiddo on quilting projects and to see what they can do. Expand your kiddo's abilities as they work with you to create a bigger project than they do at Kamp, further their design skills, and reinforce skills they learned at Kamp. Help them feel totally confident. Use your own sewing machine to do the whole project, so your kiddo knows how to use it. End class with a completed 5' by 5' quilt!

This is a TEAM project, with the same adult working with the child throughout the project. Perfect for Kid's Kamp participants to reinforce and expand their skills the learned at Kamp. Other 8-15 year olds with any machine sewing experience will have enough knowledge to enjoy this class as well. Adult does not need to be an experienced quilter but does need to have a working sewing machine they are familiar with, and the ability to participate in all classes and 'homework' activities, in order to complete the quilt. 

Supplies needed for first class will include: 

• Working sewing machine, with basic feet. Be sure you have used the machine and know that it works - bring the manual, power cord, foot pedal, extra bobbin, thread and needles. 
• Rotary cutter 45 mm size
• Cutting Mat min. 24 x 36
• 24" x 6" (min) ruler
• scissors for snipping threads and fabric scissors about 7" long 
• pins
• some fabric - at least 1/2 yard cuts or 2 Fat Quarters- one light color and the other darker
• Big Ocean Pattern by Tara Faughnan

During the first class - you will learn to make the block using these fabrics and we will talk about color choices - if you have already found colors you want to use -you can purchase the fabric according to the pattern's information.

NOTE: RMQM's Garage Sale on August 22 will have plenty of tools and fabrics for very reasonable prices. Members get in an hour earlier than the public - so this is a fantastic way to get started quilting.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

• Cancellation more than 2 weeks in advance - full refund. 
• Less than 2 weeks prior to class $25 cancellation charge.
• Less than 48 hours - no refund unless we can fill the seat, refund of class fee minus the $25 cancellation fee.
• No refunds to No shows.

Note: Credit Card refunds cost RMQM a processing fee, therefore a 5% Fee will be charged on CC refunds.

Making a mixture of traditional, contemporary, modern and art quilts, Holly loves to try it all. She is great with different sewing machines and can help you figure yours out, as long as you have a manual for it - and the required parts.
