Doodle 2 Embroidery - Rita Meyerhoff | Oct 7 & 21

Discover the joy of "doodling" with needle and thread! In this creative, hands-on class, you'll explore a variety of simple hand embroidery stitches and learn how to combine them to create playful, free-flowing designs directly on fabric. There are no patterns to follow and no pressure for perfection—just the freedom to experiment with line, texture, and color as you stitch.
You'll practice a collection of versatile embroidery stitches, discover how they work together to create unique designs, and complete a stitched sampler or other item you choose that will serve as both a reference and inspiration for future projects. Whether you're adding decorative details to quilts, embellishing garments, or creating small textile art pieces, these hand embroidery techniques will give you countless ways to express your creativity.
The class will use Embroidery & Crazy Quilt Stitch Tool Book by Judith Baker Montano as its primary reference. This handy guide provides clear stitch illustrations and instructions, making it an excellent resource to use during class and to continue your embroidery journey at home.

| Instructor Bio: | Rita Meyerhoff has been teaching classes at RMQM for a few years now and her teaching style is fun, well thought out and she has a way of bringing details and tips in just as you need them. Her quilts have been award winners at local and national shows such as Colorado Quilt Council, RMQM’s Echter;s Garden Quilt Show. One of her crazy quilts hung at Houston International Quilt show in 2015. One of her custom quilting clients won five blue ribbons at the Colorado State Fair in 2017. Her expertise was recognized by the Denver Art Museum where she had a Crazy Quilt piece hang in the “Thread Room” for six years along with other pieces of quilting, art and lace done by other well-known quilters and artists. As you can see from her class sample - she loves to add more detail to every part of her quilts - and she will teach you the techniques to do the same for your projects. |
