Artistry Through Applique - an Afternoon with David Taylor | APRIL 9, 2026
David is coming back to meet the needs of members who want to know all the secrets, but weren't able to attend his 5 day hands-on class!
This lecture/demo afternoon class covers every step of David's process for creating appliqué art quilts that look like paintings using only fabric and thread. From pattern drawing to binding, every step is included. His technique requires only a love of fabric and quilting, and a willingness to spend months on the same project. David makes learning - fun with a lecture that is funny and informative.
Bring your notepad/ sketchbook and a couple ideas of photos that you would love to turn into quilted-appliqued-magic. Having your photos will help you think through his concepts for a specific project -- and you will get much more out of the class.
This lecture will be in the Main Gallery to allow as many as desire to attend. Gather a group and carpool for the day- making RMQM and this fantastic opportunity for an Afternoon with David - the highlight of your week.

| Instructor Bio: | David was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire, and currently resides in Fort Collins, Colorado. He has been the recipient of the Fairfield Master Award for Contemporary Quilting from the International Quilt Association (2006, 2014), the Brother Wall Machine Workmanship Award from the American Quilters Society (2008), the Director’s Award at Road to California (2022), and a two-time Best-of-Show winner at IQA's Spring Festival in Chicago (2007, 2008), among others. His art quilts hang in numerous private collections, along with 2 held in the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum's collection. |
