Sunday at the Museum - April 2026 - NON-MEMBERS Registration

Brian Clements has been quilting since 1989 – due to the influence of Kaye Wood.
Like most quilters Brian’s quilting story has many over zellous ambitions that he met with his best decisions at the time. Looking back – he calls some of those choices ‘bad’ – but they have led him on a path of creating at least a 100 quilts mostly just for fun. Each year he challenges himself to create something extra-fantastic for the county fair and other exhibits – and has ended up with quilts in several of RMQM’s Men’s exhibits, as well as other regional, national and international quilt shows and museums. He has even ended up in a few magazines! Brian has gone from longarm quilting his own quilts, to doing it for clients as well for about 10 years. His ability with longarming is evident in his exhibit quilts, as it totally adds an additional layer of artistry to each of his quilts.
If you’ve visited our Men’s Exhibits over the years, you’ve likely stood in awe of Brian’s work—and now is your chance to hear the stories behind the stitches.
Join long-time quilter Brian for an insightful lecture that bridges the gap between complex patchwork construction and the final stitch. He will be using his various quilts for demonstration. Brian will dive deep into his creative process for choosing the perfect machine quilting designs. He’ll demonstrate how to artistically manipulate patterns to fit those tricky, “odd” areas of a quilt top using a live look at his robotics software. This talk will provide the technical tips and artistic inspiration you need to take your quilting to the next level.
Brian will share some of his best insights, tips and wisdom at our Sunday at the Museum lecture. Join the fun.
Fun Facts about Brian:
Small Town Roots: Brian grew up in Juniata, Nebraska—a town with a population of "800 plus one old grouch" (according to his Dad).
The "Overachiever" Summer: While on a full-ride scholarship for Computer Science, Brian decided to knock out a two-year Accounting degree during his "free time" in a single summer.
A "Bow-Tied" Beginning: His very first quilt, a Triple Irish Chain, wasn't quilted at all—it was tied with black satin ribbons into pretty little bows.
The "Flame" Machine: When he got his first PFAFF 7510, he had a race-car detailer make custom flame decals for his machine, to give it some extra speed.
A National Treasure: Brian's 3-D quilt was one of only 23 selected from the entire country to be exhibited at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah.
Moda's Secret Weapon: He has collaborated on and quilted hundreds of quilts for Moda design team, Sweetwater.
