Legendary Ladies visit Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

An exciting cast of notable women in Colorado's history - will join us in the gallery, to help us learn about the history of Colorado, and the west. Cast members will be representing 1818 to 1941, and include: 

Lola Montez: 1818 – 1862 Dancer & Actress
An Irish dancer and mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, Lola fled political scandal in Europe and re-invented herself as a Flamboyant dancer and actress. Lola Montez enjoyed worldwide fame while critics alternately praised 
and railed against her. Wildly adored by the American public, she reached her height of popularity in California during the gold rush years. Lively and entertaining. Inductee in Theater Hall of Fame. Victorian

Belle Starr: 1848-1889 Outlaw Legend

Described in newspapers and dime novels as a gun-toting, train robbing outlaw who harbored desperados and was the brains behind criminal operations.  Known as the female Jesse James.  Captivating! Victorian Western Attire.

Anne Evans: 1871-1941 Cultural Pioneer
Born in Colorado, Anne Evans helped to transform Denver into a “City Beautiful”. She was influential in the founding the Denver Art Museum, Denver Public Library and restoration of the Central City Opera House. She worked for the recognition of American Indian art, especially in the Southwest. Fascinating. Inductee in Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame and Colorado Business Hall of Fame. 1930’s Costume

Mary Elitch Long: 1856-1936 Businesswoman
Original owner of Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado, Mary Elitch was the first female manager of a zoo at a time when women held no political or financial power. Mary will guide you through a verbal tour of the gardens. Elegant. Inductee in the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame. Edwardian Costume
