Finishing your Paper Quilt | Jane Mathews | Feb 12
Finishing your Paper Quilt - allows you to take your Paper Quilt and prepare it to hang in your home or elsewhere. In her one day Quilting with Paper class, there is not enough time to finish your quilt for hanging, so Jane Mathews will teach the finishing techniques in this additional one day class. If you have a paper quilt that you have done previously and it is still unfinished - join Jane on Feb. 12, to get it finished in a professional manner.
This is a one day class, with a short break for a bag lunch.
Supply List for Finishing your Paper Quilt with Jane Mathews:
- Backing paper to support your work whether you sew or glue; typing paper is a good weight. Avoid newspapers.
- Sewing Machine that is in good working order that you know how to operate
- Scissors, ruler, templates etc.
- Thread. Colors can match or be an accent.
- Adhesives such as: Glue stick, YES paste, matte medium, wall paper paste. Artist tape helps hold pieces in place while sewing
- Sack lunch

| Instructor Bio: | My interest in art-making began very early. I was supported by my parents. My father taught me how to use tools and painting techniques. My mother taught me how to sew on a sewing machine. I enjoyed trying different art media. My favorite was working with fabric. This eventually led to sewing on paper while I was studying for an MFA at Colorado State University. Traditionally, textiles are mostly covers. Covers offer protection for our living places, our bodies, and our possessions. We also use textiles for adornment, identification and ritual. The word cover became a theme for making paper quilts. Recent quilts relate to personal experiences, how clothing is used and my travels to other countries. |
