BOM Walk in the Woods - March 8 with Brenda Breadon
Walk in the Woods is a super way to either learn to piece or get a fun batik project completed with some friends. Batik fabrics are sometimes stiff and hard to work with, but this Riley Blake fabric is soft and the kit from RMQM creates fun color combos. Using ½ square triangles, rectangles and squares, you will create pieced stars, baskets, churn dash, flying geese and pine tree blocks, then set them with sashing and a border to finish the top.
This 6 month long Block of the Month program results in a finished quilt 74” x 74” and could be extended for most bed sizes.
Starting on Saturday March 8 with a Kick Off Class, you will pick up your kit of fabric and the first month’s pattern, and Brenda will walk you through what is in your kit, so you understand what to cut from which fabric. She will also go through the assembly of the blocks for month #1. Bring your sewing machine and cutting tools, so you can get started.
If you are at a distance, or the weather prevents you from driving that day- we will provide either Zoom or a video for you to get the demonstration.
Each month after that, for 4 months you will be able to pick up your next month’s pattern and get a demonstration of the next set of construction methods during a 10-Noon meeting at RMQM. Bring what you have done and your questions, so Brenda can help you.
Finally on August 9th, there will be a 4 hour class from 10-2, where you can bring your machine and learn the best way to do your border, so that it lays flat, learn finishing and binding techniques.
Cost: includes the Kit and Classes. Kit includes fabric for the top and pattern. (Pattern provided monthly for blocks to be completed that month). No backing fabric provided.
