Free Motion Quilting with Rita Meyerhoff Fall 2023



Learn the basics of free-motion quilting and walking foot grid work, including choosing thread, batting, and needles. You will learn lots of designs and the basics of stitching on your quilt top using free-motion quilting as well as how to adapt stencils as quilting motifs. This class will help you gain confidence in your quilting and avoid some of the pitfalls common to free-motion quilting. Learn how to decide what style of quilting enhances your project best depending on how your project will be used. You will have a chance to try your skills with stitching allover quilting, quilting borders and sashing, and background fillers, straight-line stitching and grids. Rita is a well-known local quilter with lots of experience and knowledge to share and cannot wait for you to join her on your quilting adventure.

Learn to use your darning foot for free motion work, along with learning how to do grid work with a walking foot. Also learn to mark a quilt top and preparing the top, batting and backing for quilting.
