Basics of Quilt Construction

This is a great class for the beginner or anyone who wants to improve their quilt piecing skills. Learn great tips and helps for choosing fabric, rotary cutting techniques, pressing and piecing of this wonderful quilt top.  Rita will help you thru the basic steps for making “Regency Romance” by Moda quilt top which measures 63x 69 inches.  There will be lots of discussions, experience, and practical tips for strip piecing nine patches, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, star blocks, fussy cutting blocks, and quilt top construction with borders as well as finishing ideas.  Join Rita in making this beautiful top, improving your skills, and enjoying time with other quilters.

The Regency Romance quilt kit can be purchased from the RMQM Gift shop or you can use your own fabrics for this quilt.

Class is limited to 6 students.  Each student will have their own table to work from, allowing for the 6' social distancing recommendations.

Skill Details:
Requirements: Supplies List 1. Sewing Machine and Manual (sewing machine in good working condition and the knowledge of how to work the machine) 2. Rotary cutter (prefer an ergonomic and auto shut style) and mat 3. 6 x 12 inch ruler for rotary cutting 4. Pins for construction 5. Regency Romance Quilt kit available at RMQM shop or if choosing your own fabrics bring the fabric requirements listed on the pattern and pattern instructions 6. Light to medium gray thread for construction 7. Basic sewing supplies such as scissors, needles for your machine, thread; pincushion 8. Small iron and ironing mat if desired; irons will be set up at museum to be shared if needed
