Crazy Quilts have lots of different techniques and styles. This day will be focused on embellishment and filled with hand embroidery stitches and learning how to use special items such as jewelry, buttons, lace and ribbon to create a wonderful Crazy Quilt block. You will learn to use embroidery stitches, couching, and other creative stitching to add beautiful texture to your creation. There will be a demo on hand dying lace and appliques as well as a chance to dye your own pieces of lace. Rita is a well-known Crazy Quilter with great ideas for the use of those embroidery stitches to make your Crazy Quilt block or quilt into a wonderful example of your own beautiful handwork.

Requirements: | You may want to bring the following: Do Not Need sewing machine for this session Reference Book of your choice Embroidery scissors Sewline chalk marking pen/eraser Air erasable marker 1x6 or 1x12 ruler for marking Embroidery needles with variety of sizes (available from Rita) Embroidery floss in variety of colors (silk is nice too) Anything unusual that you might want to add to your CQ such as gloves, lace collar, jewelry etc. Beads, baubles, buttons and your favorite small treasures are nice too! Hand quilting thread in neutral and medium gray Ruching guide by Anita Shackleford (available from Rita) Size 8 or 12 perle cotton floss- variety of colors (size 8 available from RMQM shop) Silk ribbon (available from Rita) Lace for dyeing (Dyes will be available for use during class with information regarding the type of dye used) Photo transfers (available from Rita) Medium color of green thread for leaf construction Some products will be available from Rita. Items will be harder to find items which are not usually carried by other local stores. The museum will receive a percentage of any sales from Rita?s shop.
