Color & Composition with Lea McComas

Join Lea McComas for this ongoing monthly class hosted by the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Each session features an in-depth look at a color scheme, a concept related to color, and another related to composition, along with ideas for further creative exploration. This online format allows quilters from around the country to discuss ideas, share insights, and show off their own creative work. The curriculum in this class is the basis for a book Lea McComas is currently writing. Participants, who complete the creative exercises and share their work the following month, may also be invited to share their work in the published book. We meet on the 4th Saturday of every month via Zoom. Please sign up for the class prior to Friday evening. The email with the Zoom link will be sent to registered participants Friday evening. October 13, 20 & 27, 2021?Wednesday Times: 9:30?4pm w/half hour lunch break Class Cost: $130 This is a great class for the beginner or anyone who wants to improve their quilt piecing skills. Learn great tips and helps for choosing fabric, rotary cutting techniques, pressing, and piecing of this wonderful quilt top.? Rita will help you thru the basic steps for making? Regency Romance? by Moda quilt top which measures 63x 69 inches.? There will be lots of discussions, experience, and practical tips for strip piecing nine patches, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, star blocks, fussy cutting blocks, and quilt top construction with borders as well as finishing ideas.? Join Rita in making this beautiful top, improving your skills, and enjoying time with other quilters. The Regency Romance quilt kit can be purchased from the RMQM Gift shop ($130), or you can use your own fabrics for this quilt.

2021 Kids Kamp

Hooray, for Summer Camps! The museum will host week-long Youth Camps in June. Each class focuses on several projects which can be taken home daily. We will teach entry-level sewing (if needed) and provide education on textile arts and quilting. Pick one session. Students can register for either Session 1 or Session 2. The class is not designed to be attended both weeks. Ages eight through teen years are welcome. Machines and supplies will be provided. If you already have a machine (one that you know how to operate) and fabrics you would like to use please feel free to bring them; however, you are not required to come with supplies. This year, kampers will have the opportunity to display their quilts in the museum gallery and take part in an opening reception for their family and friends. Seats are filling up fast so sign up today!
