Ricky will provide an insightful lecture / workshop that focuses on how Ricky Tims, a quilt artist, fosters ideas from conception to completion. The lecture will offer suggestions on connecting with the Creative Muse and provide insight into various ways quilters should approach their ideas. Additionally, Ricky will share an overview of various techniques that would be required to bring a vision to reality. Supplies: Curiosity, open mind, a friend or fellow artist (doesn't have to be a quilter!) AND a brand new sketchbook to take notes and allow your mind to take off in new directions, about creating quilts, art, or any type of creative endeavor.

3rd Fridays! 10 am - 12 pm The Rocky Mountain Quilt Study group gathers monthly to study and learn with presentations and / or discussions on quilt history, museum collections, and research methodology. You wouldn't believe the depth of information available and any participant is invited to present research they have been doing - and or request assistance from the group where they are stalled in their search for information. Cost: FREE / Museum admission not included.

Hooray, for Summer Camps! RMQM will host week-long Youth Camps in June. Kampers will focus on machine piecing, ironing, color & design and finishing techniques. Intermediate and Advanced campers will expand their basic skills and work on new techniques. Each week focuses on several daily fun and useful projects which build skills, as well as a throw size quilt project completed by the end of the week. *Pick one session.. The camp curriculum is not designed to be attended multiple weeks. *Ages eight through teen years are welcome. *Machines and most supplies will be provided. Sign up today!

Love English Paper Pieced quilts....have a project started or want to learn to paper-piece? This is the group for you. Come share your current project or learn from others in this low-key meeting where EPP enthusiasts meet for inspiration. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. RMQM is still following current social distancing guidelines. Please wear a mask. Time: 1-3pm. No registration is required at this time. Cost: $ FREE / Museum admission not included.

Want to learn basic embroidery stitches and be able to add those to your quilts? Then this is the class for you. Embroidery stitches are great additions to your quilts as either large stitches for quilting or added embellishments. Rita will teach you some basic stitches as well as more complex that will help enhance your project.

Learn the basics of free-motion quilting and walking foot grid work, including choosing thread, batting, and needles. Learn designs and the basics of stitching on your quilt top using free-motion quilting as well as how to adapt stencils as quilting motifs. Class is held on three almost consecutive Wednesdays. May 8, 22 & 29

Love it or hate it - your binding has to live up to the beauty of your quilt. This 4 hour class (with a brown bag lunch break) will give you the opportunity to learn, then actually apply perfect binding to a placemat sized project that you provide to class. Then you get to ask all those burning questions you still have - like how to bind scallops and other specially shaped edges.

Do you need a special gift? Treasure Boxes might be the answer! Bring your own wooden box - less than 18" in height - Great ones are about 12"x 8" x 6" tall, with lid and a lock. It needs a lid. Bring some different size treasures and trinkets that you want to see on top of the box. Rita will show you the steps to turn that plain box into a a very special Treasure Box. Choosing a theme - you can create a special gift for anyone to store special memory items, or make a fantastic gift presentation.

Learn the layered freezer paper applique process David Taylor uses on his award winning animal wall quilts. Lots of demonstrations including his pre-turned edge technique, eliminating the dreaded shadowing and an invisible hand stitch.

In this workshop David Taylor will demonstrate and teach his layered, hand-applique technique with simple applique shapes using freezer paper templates and liquid starch. The class will cover how David builds his pictorial wall quilts and how to get beautiful details by letting the fabric choices do all the hard work!
