Bargello with Barb

Bargello is a colorful, fun and attractive way to make a quilt by joining strips of colored fabrics. Learn this technique of making quilts that can resemble bargello needlepoint and create beautiful color transitions and the illusion of curves. The possibilities are endless once you understand this technique and apply your creative vision. Barb will take you through from start to finish on a small sized bargello project in this one day class.

Intro to Thread Painting

Explore the basics of thread painting with Lea McComas in a safe, fun environment. Learn how to fill, shade, blend, and create contour, depth, and details with nothing more than thread. Try this technique without committing to a major project. Participants will complete a series of small exercises to learn skills in isolation, and then combine them in more intricate compositions. This workshop also includes information on thread, stabilizers, and needles.

Learn the basics of free-motion quilting and walking foot grid work, including choosing thread, batting, and needles. You will learn lots of designs and the basics of stitching on your quilt top using free-motion quilting as well as how to adapt stencils as quilting motifs. Class is held on three consecutive Wednesdays beginning October 11 and concluding on October 25, 2023.

This class will cover Basics of Quilt Top Construction. This is a great class for the beginner or anyone who wants to improve their quilt piecing skills. Class is held on three consecutive Wednesdays, February 21, 28 and March 6, 2024. Class is limited to 10 students.

In this workshop David will demonstrate and teach his layered, hand-applique technique with simple applique shapes using freezer paper templates and liquid starch. The class will cover how David builds his pictorial wall quilts and how to get beautiful details by letting the fabric choices do all the hard work!

Learn the layered freezer paper applique process David uses on his award winning animal wall quilts. Lots of demonstrations including his pre-turned edge technique, eliminating the dreaded shadowing and an invisible hand stitch.
