Quilt Museum rotates exhibits in each of two galleries throughout the
year. Shows range from historic to contemporary, traditional to art quilts,
using many styles and techniques. Biennially we present an exhibit of
quilts by men. Please note that the Museum is closed on the Monday before
new exhibits open. |

Sisters in Cloth: A Collection
of Works by African American Textile Artists
Quilts in this exhibit
span the spectrum of quilt styles, from the
traditional to the contemporary, and showcase
the varied works in design, inspiration, and
meaning for present-day African American textile
artists. Each quilt tells a story for
its artist and emote messages through its fabric.

American Quilt Study Group -
2006 Quilt Study
Contemporary quilt artists featured in this exhibit have researched
and explored the fabrics, techniques and tools used by quilters in
the 18th and 19th centuries. The quilts and bed coverings featured
in this show are contemporary reproductions and interpretations of
originals. These quilts and coverings were originally produced
for the American Quilt Study Group’s 2006 Seminar, and have since
traveled to various venues throughout the country
Cindy V. Hamilton’s quilt, “Early Compass and
Diamonds”, is a study of “Mariner’s Compass
Coverlet”, published in The Quilter’s Guild Collection:
Contemporary Quilts, Heritage Inspiration, edited by Bridget
Long.
