Research Techniques
This series of classes will explore various research techniques such as quilt design, fabric and pattern identifica-tion, as well as geneaology, records searches, and computer research. Interviewing techniques will also be explored.  We will learn how to research quilts in the RRQM collection as well as privately owned quilts. The class will meet on a monthly basis with some field trips.

School Curriculum Enhancement Program
We will learn how to study school district curriculum guides and plan lessons that will enrich existing curriculum, such as mid-19th century quilts, for a social studies unit on Pioneers. This class will meet monthly and will   focus on specific grade levels and curricula as preparation for working in district classrooms.

"Hands All Around" Research group
This group will study quilt research according to AQSG research guidelines, including interviewing and recording of data.  The purpose is to gain expertise in writing and presentation of materials for projects and events both in the RMQM and at other venues. Two special projects are in preparation! The class will meet monthly.

Writing the Quilter’s Memoir
The diaries, letters and journals of the 19th century have been replaced by telephone calls, emails, and other non-permanent communications. We need to honor the stories of today's quilters.  Come and learn various methods of capturing your own story or those of other quilters in today's busy society. The class will meet monthly.

Volunteer Enhancement I Classes:
The next series of Volunteer Enhancement I classes will begin on Thursday, April 10, 10 AM to 12:30, and will continue for four weeks after the initial meeting.  Primarily for docents (tour guides), it will cover History of American Quilting, Educational Levels, Color, Pattern and Design, Storytelling, Basic Research for tour enhancement, andDetails of Tour Technique.  Open to all RMQM volunteers as a background forunderstand the acquisition, preservation and exhibition of quilts.

The Patchwork Society 2008
The Patchwork Society is coming to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Beginning in January 2008, Kaye England’s patterns, Voices of the Past, will be brought to you as we celebrate the lives of some extraordinary women who have helped shape the nation’s history.  Each month we will spend some time on discussing these remarkable women and part of the period will be spent reviewing piecing techniques for these blocks.  Patterns can be used as a “block” a month; or for the very industrious, a “quilt” a month.

A quilt block that has been chosen to represent the women studied will be made available to participants. We hope to further the study of women’s history, and learn viable quilting skills. Meetings will be held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Education room. Membership is $15 per month which includes a pattern, supplemental materials and a SURPRISE!
